5 Years

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

A few days from now I will celebrate my 5th year in Accenture. Who would have thought that I would last this long?

Year 1 - I learned that COBOL is a jurassic computer language that is still being used today. Amazing!

Year 2 - Beginning of the Dark Age. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was, is lost.

Year 3 - Age of confusion. History is yet to decide if this was the end of the Dark Age or a new beginning.

Year 4 - Quarter life crisis.

Year 5 - Quarter life crisis. Resurgence of the procrastinate-incarnate in me.

I learned about the ‘good’ news two weeks ago. My hard work, intense lobbying, and marketing paid off.

At the end of the day, I still consider myself an economist, a pragmatist. It’s the bottom line that counts. Another year has passed; it’s time to re-visit my CBA figures.
